About A1 Yacht Sales

A-1

also A1, A-one, “first-rate,” 1837; a figurative use from Lloyd’s of London marine insurance company’s system for selective rating of merchant vessels (“Register of British and Foreign Shipping”), where it is the designation for ships in first-class condition. The letter refers to the condition of the hull of the ship itself, and the number rating to the equipment. Also used in equivalent ratings in U.S., where colloquially it is sometimes expanded to A No. 1.

Alan’s professional sailing career began in the 70s when they began training for the Olympics in the Men’s Double Handed Dinghy Class – the 470. Following his career as an athlete, Alan later became the coach of the national Olympic sailing team. Alan’s interest in yacht brokerage began when he saw a great demand for single-handed laser dinghies in the 80s but a short supply of dealers. Alan then transitioned towards larger keelboats. Soon after became one of the most successful yacht brokers in North America and held the title of the world’s largest Jeanneau dealer.

Josh currently races the Men’s 470 Dinghy and has recently been training for the Tokyo Olympics. With an increasing demand for yacht brokers in recent years, Alan approached Josh with an idea, and thus A1 Yacht Sales was born.

Our team has created a fundamental formula derived from Olympic-level sailing, which we have applied to all yachts to optimize the sale of your boat or strengthen our search in finding you the perfect vessel.
